Thanks to Slextrem at Heaven&Earth for compiling all the panels, it makes making these lists so much easier ♥
1. They’re good for each other and to each other:
Both of them have been an undeniable positive influence on each other’s lives.Naruto has inspired Sakura to work harder, makes her smile like no other even when she’s down, makes her feel safe, gives her hope, etc. Meanwhile, Sakura isone of the people who saved Naruto from the hell of loneliness; someone who, through watching and being there for his ups and downs, has come to believe in him and know him like no other. And that’s actually something that goes bothways; theirs is a symbiotic, healthy relationship were both ends receive and give.
Naruto and Sakura have literally been there to believe in and support each other, whether emotionally or otherwise, through thick and thin.
2. They’re the most developed couple in the manga (and this is an understatement)
They’ve literally been gradually, continually and steadily developed throughout these 638 chapters. Mutually developed, at that. You can look back at the start and know exactly what happened and when it happened to get them where they are today. It’s a process we got to witness with our very own eyes.Kishimoto has not left any of it to our imagination; he has spent time, given thoughts, ink, uncountable panel space and care in order to make NaruSaku what it is today. He values them that much.
And that we’ve been able to witness their development the way we have only makes their journey more special, and rewarding.
3. Their selflessness:
When it comes to each other, Naruto and Sakura will always put the other’s feelings and well-being above their own. It doesn’t matter what sacrifices such a thing entails; for Naruto and Sakura there isn’t even any choice to make. The other always come first (sometimes, arguably, to a fault. But hey, they’ve been working on that, and it’s yet another thing that makes them such a realistic, impossible-not-to-root-for pair. There’s beauty even in their flaws).
4. They compliment and complete each other:
They’re each others’ Heaven&Earth, a perfect team. And it doesn’t only cover their personalities and how Sakura’s the one to put Naruto on a leash when he puts his foot in his mouth (as per usual lol), but battle-wise as well. And it’s not even about fighting back to back, either.
Take the Pain invasion, for example. While Naruto was out there fighting, Sakura kept herself out of his way and focused on holding the fort for him. Naruto was fighting to protect the village and the villagers, and Sakura made sure to take care of them while he was gone. That is just the kind of help a future Hokage needs.
There’s no way around it: that’s exactly how they want to be. What began as a ‘we’ll save Sasuke together' has lost the Sasuke somewhere along the way. Sakura's promise might have been born out of their mutual desire to have Team 7 reunite again, but it now encompasses so much more.
Take the current war, for example. It has nothing to do with Sasuke. As a matter of fact, while Sakura still very much wishes to have Team 7 laugh again, she stepped back and decided to let Naruto handle him in the Kage Summit; yet, what is it that we see Sakura thinking when she’s heading to the battlefield?
That’s right. “We’re going to be together”.
Sakura wants to help carry Naruto’s burdens. What Naruto has to shoulder, she wants to shoulder with him; wants to make the weight lighter in any way she possibly can, however small it might be.
And the best thing? She won’t take no for an answer.
And while she might not notice it; even if she thinks the things she does for Naruto are always so ‘small’ and ‘insignificant’, her presence there is invaluable to Naruto. It makes him stronger; it makes him happy.
6. When everything came crashing down on her, it was ‘Naruto’ Sakura called:
I can’t stress enough just how meaningful this is. Her village was attacked out of nowhere, everything was chaos and mayhem; hopeless.
And what was Sakura’s visceral reaction? Who did she turn to in her time of need, without a second thought? To Naruto. This spoke volumes as to how deep her belief and trust in his strength truly run; but more than that, it spoke volumes about her feelings for him.
Because it showed that Naruto is the one Sakura instinctively trusts to right all wrongs. The one who makes her feel safe; the one who makes her feel hope.
7. Because Naruto is outright smitten
Who else can get him to make these faces, if not his Sakura-chan?
8. Sakura’s special, tender smiles for Naruto.
Because they’re priceless,
and Naruto has yet to be aware of them.
9. Because Naruto still hasn’t gotten to kiss Sakura’s forehead
And I don’t know you, but I wouldn’t want to not be aboard of this wonderful OTP when Naruto finally gets his wish 8D
10. Because she’s ‘more or less’ his ‘this’:
…and the world has seen it coming since day 1. AND Minato and Kushina approve.
Speaking about Minato and Kushina:
11. Because ‘Road to Ninja’
I mean, how many OTPs in shounen have gotten the chance to get a ‘Meet the Parents' movie? The 'already dead’ parents, at that? Not many, I assure you.
And all in all: they’re Naruto and Sakura. What’s there not to like? :D
